for the reaction, `2A + B rarr 3C + D`, which of the following does not express the reaction rate

A

`(-d[A])/(2dt)`

B

`(-d[C])/(3dt)`

C

`(-d[B])/(dt)`

D

`(d[D])/(dt)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

For the reaction
`2A+Brarr2C+D`
we have Rate `=-(d[A])/(3dt)=-(dt)=-(d[B])/(dt)=(d[C])/(3dt)=(d{D])/(dt)`
For reactants we use negative sign, because `d` [reactant] is a negative eqantity (as concentration of reactant is decreasesing), thus, it is multipited by `-1` to make the rate of the reaction a positive equantity.
