Aqua regia is a mixture of concentrated nitric and hrdrochloric acid (1 to 3 by volume ). A highly corrosive liquid that attacks and dissolves. Hg, Au (forming chloroauric acid, `HAuCl_(4)`), and Pt (forming chloroplatinic acid, `H_(2)[PtCl_(6)]`
