Two identical charges `+Q` are kept fixed some distance apart.A small particles `P` with charge `q` is placed midway between them . If `P` is given a small displacement `Delta` ,it will undergo simple harmonic motion if
(i) `q` is positive and `Delta` is along the line joining the charges
(ii) `q` is positive and `Delta` is perpendicular to the line joining the charges
(iii) `q` is negative and `Delta` is perpendicular to the line joining the charges
(iv) `q` is positive and `Delta` is along the line joining the charges

A

`q` is positive and `D` is along the line joining the charges

B

`q` is positive and `D` is perpendicular to the line joining the charges.

C

`q` is negative and `D` is perpendicular to the line joining the charges.

D

`q` is negative and `D` is along the line joining the charges.

Draw E-r and V-r graphs due to two point charges + q and -2q kept at some along the line joining these two charges.

Two points charges , each Q , are fixed at separation 2d . A charged particle having charge q and mass m is placed between them. (a) Now this charged particle is slightly displaced along the line joining the charges , slow that it will execute simple harmonic motion and find the time period of oscillation. (b) If charge q is negative and it is displaced slightly perpendicular to the line joining the charges , repeat the part (a) .

Two identical positive charges Q each are placed on the x axis at point (-a,0) and (a,0) A point charge of magnitude q is placed at the origin. For small displacement along x axis, the charge q executes simple harmonic motion if it is poitive and its time period is T_(1) . if the charge q is negative, it perform oscillations when displaced along y axis. in this case the time period of small oscillations is T_(2). find (T_(1))/(T_(2))
