If the resultant of `n` forces of different magnitudes acting at a point is zero, then the minimum value of `n` is

A

4

B

2

C

3

D

1

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

The minimum value of n is 3. For finding the resultant, we must have minimum two forces. But two forces of different magnitudes cannot have a zero resultant. But if there are 3 forces, and if the third force is equal and opposite to the resultant of the first two forces, their resultant will be zero.
