Isobutanol has `alpha`-hydrogen atom.
Acetaldehyde, acetone and methyl ketones having `CH_(3)CO`-group undergo haloform reaction. The halogen atoms of the methyl group are first replaced by hydrogen atoms. This reaction is used as a test of `CH_(3)CO`-group. Due to absence of `CH_(3)CO`-group isobutanal does not given iodoform test.
