Which of the following aqueous solution ...

Which of the following aqueous solution has the highest boiling point

A

`"0.1 M KNO"_(3)`

B

`"0.1 M "Na_(3)PO_(4)`

C

`0.1M BaCl_(2)`

D

`.1 M K_(2)SO_(4)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

Higher the concentration of ions in the solution. Higher is the elevation in boiling point. As 0.1 M `Na_(3)PO_(4)` has highest concentration of ions, elevation of boiling point is highest for 0.1 M `Na_(3)PO_(4)` and so is the boiling point. Alternatively, `DeltaT_(b)=iK_(b)m`. For the same value of m, higher is the value of i, higher is `DeltaT_(b)`.
