The radii of two cylinders are in the ratio 2:3 and their heights are in the ratio 5:3. Calculate the ratio of their volumes and the ratio of theri curved surfaces.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let the radii of two cylinders are `2x` and `3x`
Also, let the height of two cylinders are `5x` and `3x`
As we know that the volume of cylinder = `pir^2h`
Ratios, `V^'/V^('')`=`(pi(2x)^25x)/(pi(3x)^23x)`
`V^'/V^('')`=`20/27`
Ratios, C.S.A = `(2pi2x5x)/(2pi3x3x)`
C.S.A = `10/9`
Hence, ratio of volumes of cylinder is `20:27` and C.S.A is `10:9`.
