Which of the following have maximum molar conductivity.
(i) `0.08M` solution and its specific conductivity is `2 xx 10^(-2) Omega^(-1) cm^(-1)`
(ii) `0.1M` solution and its resistivity is `50 Omega cm`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) `lambda_(M) = (k xx 1000)/(M) = 2 xx 10^(-2) xx (1000)/(0.08) = 250 Omega^(-1) cm^(2) mol^(-1)`
(ii) `lambda_(M) = (k xx 1000)/(M) :' k = (1)/(rho) :. lambda_(M) = (1)/(50) xx (1000)/(0.1) = 200 Omega^(-1) cm^(2) mol^(-1)`
So, the molar conductivity of `0.08M` solution will be greater than `0.1M` solution.
