Find the sequence whose n^(th) term is ...

Find the sequence whose ` n^(th)` term is ` 5^(n) - 1 ` is it a G.P. ? What is its ` 5^(th)` term ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

` a_(n) = 5^(n) -1`
` a_(1) = 4 `
` a_(2) = 24 `
` a_(3) = 124 `
Clearly ` (a_(2))/(a_(1)) ne (a_(3))/(a_(2))`
Hence , it is not a G.P.
Now , ` a_(5) = 5^(5) -1 = 3125 - 1 = 3124 `
