Solve for x and y the system of equation...

Solve for x and y the system of equations
`sinx cos 2y=1`
`cosx sin 2y=0`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Adding and subtracting two equations we get respectively
`sin x cos 2y + cosx sin2y = 1+0`
`sinx cos2y - cosx sin 2y=1-0=0`
`rArr sin(x+2y)=1`
and `sin(x-2y)=1`
`rArr x+2y=2npi+pi/2`
`x-2y = 2kpi + pi/2`
Adding and subtracting the above equations, we get
`2x=2(n+k)pi+pi`
`therefore x=(n+k)pi+pi/2,n,k int Z`
and `4y=2(n-k)pi`
`therefore y=(n-k)pi/2, n, k int Z`
Thus, the ordered pair solutions are `(n+1)pi + pi/2, (n-k)pi/2, n, k int Z`
