A 2 digit number is formed using the digits 2, 3, 5, 8 and 9 without repetition. What is the probability that the digits used are 3 and 9?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, digits are 2, 3, 5, 8, 9
Total two digit numbers that can be formed without repeating the digits = `""^(5)P_(2)` = 20
`therefore` Total number of possible elementary events = 20
Now numbers with the digits 3 and 9 are 39 and 93
`therefore` Number of favourable elementary events = 2
Thus, required probability = `(2)/(20)=(1)/(10)`
