If (a-b),\ (b-c),(c-a) are in G.P. then ...

If `(a-b),\ (b-c),(c-a)` are in G.P. then prove that `(a+b+c)^2=3(a b+b c+c a)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given, `(a-b),\ (b-c),(c-a)`

are in G.P

`(b-c)^2=(a-b)(c-a)`

`b^2+c^2-2bc=ac-bc-a^2+ab`

`a^2+b^2+c^2=ac+bc+ab`

We know,

`(a+b+c)^2=a^2+b^2+c^2+2(a b+b c+c a)`

`(a+b+c)^2=ac+bc+ab+2(a b+b c+c a)`
