We have to find the distance between `P(x_1,\ y_1)a n d\ Q(x_2, y_2)`
(i) When PQ is parallel to y-axis
`impliesx_1 =x_2`
Then distance between P and Q is ,
`= sqrt((x_2−x_1)^2+(y_ 2−y_1)^2)`
`= sqrt((y_2−y_1)^2)=∣y_2−y_1∣`
(ii) When PQ is parallel to x-axis,
`impliesy_1=y_2`
Then distance between P and Q is ,
`=sqrt((x_2−x_1)^2+(y_2−y_1)^2)`
