Find what the following equation become ...

Find what the following equation become when the origin is shifted to the point (1,1): `x^2+x y-3x-y+2=0`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Firstly let us substitute the value of `x` by `x + 1` and `y` by `y + 1`
Then, `(x + 1)2 + (x + 1) (y + 1) – 3(x + 1) – (y + 1) + 2 = 0`
Upon simplification we get, `x^2 + xy = 0`
