Find the equations of the circles passin...

Find the equations of the circles passing through two points on y-axis at distance 3 from the origin and having radius 5.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let the required equation of the circle be
`(x-h)^{2}+(y-k)^{2}=a^{2}`
The circle passes through the points `(0,3)` and `(0,-3)`.
`therefore(0-h)^{2}+(3-k)^{2}=a^{2} ldots(1)`
And,
`(0-h)^{2}+(-3-k)^{2}=a^{2} ldots(2)`
Solving (1) and (2), we get:
`k=0`
