Find the equation of the circle which passes through the origin and cuts off intercepts `a\ a n d\ b\ ` respectively from `x\ a n d\ y-a x e sdot`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

General equation of circle `x^{2}+y^{2}+2 g x+2 f y+c=0`

Points lie on the circle are` (0,0) ;(a, 0) &(0, b).`

` put (0,0) , c=0;`

`Put (a, 0), a^{2}+2 g a=0`

`Put (0,b), b^{2}+2 fb=0`

Therefore, `a =-2 g ; b = -2f`

Hence, equation of circle is ` x^{2}+y^{2}-a x-b y=0`
