Find the distance between the points P\ ...

Find the distance between the points `P\ a n d\ Q` having coordinates (-2,3,1) and (2,1,2).

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given that,
two purpose `P(-2,3,1) and Q(2,1,2)`
We have to find the distance between these two purposes.
the distance between any two purposes `P(a,b,c) and Q(k,l,m)` is given by,
`sqrt((a-k)^2+(b-l)^2+(c-m)^2)`
so, accordingly the distance between `P(-2,3,1) and Q(2,1,2)`is,
`=sqrt((-2-2)^2+(3-1)^2+(1-2)^2)`
`=sqrt((-4)^2+(2)^2+(-1)^2)`
`=sqrt(16+4+1)`
`=sqrt(21)`
so, the distance between these two purposes is calculated by `sqrt(21)`
