An ideal gas expands from V to `2V` in 4 separate processes. Where process 1 is isothermal process 2 is adiabatic, process 3 is free expansion and process 4 is isobaric. If `E_(1),E_(2),E_(3)` and `E_(4)` are the changes in average kinetic energy of the molecules in the isothermal, adiabatic free expansion and isobaric process respectively then choose the correct options.

A

`E_(2)=E_(3)`

B

`E_(1)=E_(3)`

C

`E_(1)gtE_(4)`

D

`E_(4)gtE_(3)`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
B, D

Ave `Keprop` temperature.
In isothermal and free expansion there is no temperature change hence `E_(1)=E_(3)`. In isobaric expansion process, the temperature of gas increases hence average KE of molecules increases.
