2 bodies m(1) & m(2) of mass 1 and 2 kg ...

2 bodies `m_(1)` & `m_(2)` of mass 1 and `2 kg` respectively are moving along x- axis under the influence of mutual force only. The velocity of their centre of mass at a given instant is `2 m//s`. The x-coordinated of `m_(1)` is plotted against time. Then plot the x-coordinate of `m_(2)` against time (Both are located at origin).

The correct Answer is:
`(##ALN_PHY_C05_E01_136_A01##)`

For `0 le t lt 1` from `v_(cm) = (m_(1)v_(1) + m_(2)v_(2))/(m_(1) + m_(2))`
`rArr 2 = ((1) (1) + (2)v_(2))/(3)`
`rArr v_(2) = 2.5 ms^(-1)`
`rArr x_(2) = 2.5t`
for `1 le t lt 2,2 = ((1) (-1) + 2(v_(2)))/(3)`
`rArr v_(2) = 3.5ms^(-1)`
`rArr x_(2) = 2.5 + 3.5 (t - 1)`
