Two boats A and B are moving along perpendicular paths in a still lake at night. Boat A move with a speed of `3 m//s` and boat B moves with a speed of `4 m//s` in the direction such that they collide after sometime. At `t=0`, the boats are `300 m` apart. The ratio of distance of distance travelled by boat A to the distance travelled by boat B at the instant of collision is :-

A

1

B

`1//2`

C

`3//4`

D

`4//3`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

`300^(2)=(3t)^(2)+(4t)^(2)`
`300xx300=25t^(2)`
`t=60`
Ratio`=(3xx2sqrt(3))/(4xx2sqrt(3))=3:4`

Twp boats are moving along perpendicular paths on a still take at right. One boat moves with a speed of 3 ms^(-1) and the other boat moves with a speed of 4 ms^(-1) in the directions such that they collide after some time. At t=0, the boats are 300 m apart. Two boats will collide after time ______.

Two boats A and b move away form a buoy anchored at the middle of a river along mutually perpendicular staight line. The boat A moves along the stream and the boat B across the river. After moving off an equal distance of 500 metre form the buoy both the voats returned to their original position. Find the ratio of the time taken by boat A to that taken by boat B if the velocity of ecah boat with respect to water is 20m//s and the stream velocity si 10m//s .

What is the speed of the stream? I.The ratio of the speed upstream to the seed downstream of a boat is 2:3. II.The distance travelled upstream in 2 hours by the boat is more than the distance travelled by it downstream in 1 hour by 4km.

A boat travels upstream at the speed of 20 km/h and downstream at the speed of 30 km/h. What is the speed of the boat.

If the ratio of the speed of the boat in downstream and speed of the stream is 7 ∶ 2 and the speed of the boat in still water is 35 km/hr. What would be the distance travelled in upstream by boat in 5 hours?

A motor boat is travelling with a speed of 3.0m / sec . If the force on it due to water flow is 500 N , the power of the boat is

The speed of a boat in still water is 12 km/h. If the boat covers a distance of 38 km upstream in 4 hours, then the speed of the stream (in km/h) is:
