Which of the following quantities vary inversely as each other? The number of `x` men hired to construct a will and the time `y` takes to finish the job. The length `x` of a journey by bus and price `y` of the ticket Journey `(x\ k m)` undertaken by a car and the patrol `(y\ l i t r e s)` consumed by it.

(i) The number of `x` men hired to construct a wall and the time `y` taken to finish the job.
`therefore` If the number of men hired is more than times required for construction wall shall be less and vice-versa.
`therefore` It is inverse variation.

(ii) The length `x` of journey by bus and price `y` of the ticket.
If the distance of journey is more then cost of ticket will be more and vice-versa.
therefore It is direct variation.

(iii) Journey (`x` km) undertaken by a car and the petrol (`y` liters) consumed by it.
If the distance of journey is more then petrol required will also more and vice-versa.
`therefore` It is direct variation.
