A man with normal near point (25 cm ) reads a book with small print using a magnifying glass of focal length 5 cm .
(a) What is the closest and farthest distance at which he can read the book when viewing through the magnifying glass ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Minimum distance of the book from the lens ,
`u=(fv)/(f-v)=-(5xx25)/(5+25)=-4.2 cm`
The maximum distance of the book from the lens is -5 cm , because in that case the image is at `oo` .
