How will the diffraction pattern in a single slit be affected if
(i) the width of the slit is increased?

The angular width of a diffraction pattern is given by `theta = (lambda)/(a)`, where `lambda` = wavelength of the incident light and a = width of the slit.
If the width of the slit a is increased. `theta` will decrease. So the diffraction bands. Will come closer to each other. On increasing the slit width, at a certain value of a, diffraction pattern will be no more distinct to observe.
