If the diameter of the objective of a telescope is doubled, how will its resolving power change?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Resolving power of telescope, R`= (a)/(1.22lambda) `.
Resolving power of a telescope changes in direct proportion to the diameter its objective. So, if the diameter of an objective of a telescope is increased two folds, its resolving power will also be increased two fold.
