Find the number of atoms of nitrogen in ...

Find the number of atoms of nitrogen in (1) 1 gram-mole of NO and (2) 0.5 gram-mole of `NO_(2)`. Which one will be heavier-1 gram-mole of NO or 0.5 gram-mole of `NO_(2)` ?

(1) Number of molecules present in 1 gram-mole of NO `=6.022xx10^(23)`
Each molecule of NO contains 1 nitrogen atom.
`therefore 6.022xx10^(23)` NO moleculess will contain `6.022xx10^(23)` atoms of nitrogen.
(2) Again, the number of `NO_(2)` molecules present in 0.5 gram-mole of `NO_(2)=1/2 xx6.022xxx10^(23)=3.011xx10^(23)`
Again, 1 gram-mole `NO=30g " of "NO" "[becauseM_(NO)=30]`
`therefore`0.5 gram-mole of `NO_(2)=0.5xx46=23g` `NO_(2)" "[becauseM_(NO_(2))=46]`
So, 1 gram-mole NO is heavier than 0.5 gram-mole `NO_(2)`.
