The vapour density of a gaseous element ...

The vapour density of a gaseous element is 5 times that of oxygen. If the element be triatomic, find its atomic mass.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Vapour of oxygen `(D)=(M)/(2)=(32)/(2)=16`
`therefore`Vapour density of the gaseous element`=5xx16=80`
`therefore`Moleular mass of the gaseous element`=80xx2=160`
So, atomic mass of the element=`("molecular mass")/("atomicity")`
`=160//3=53.33`
