A metallic oxide contains 60% metal. Calculate equivalent weight of the metal.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

100g of metalic oxide contains 60g of metal
`therefore` 100g of metallic oxide contains (100-60)=40g of oxygen
So, 40g of oxygen combines with 60g of metal
`therefore`8g of oxygen combines with `(60xx8)/(40)=12g` of metal
Therefore, equivalent weight of the metal =12
