Determine the equivalent weight of: (1) ...

Determine the equivalent weight of: (1) carbonate radical (2) ferrous sulphate [Fe=56]

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(1) Formula mass of carbonate radical`=12+3xx16=60`
`therefore`Equivalent weight of arbonate radical
`=("formula mass")/("valency")=(60)/(2)=30`
(2) Formula mass of ferrous sulphate=56+32+64=152
`therefore`Equivalent weight of ferrous sulphate
`=("Formula mass")/("total valency of cation or anion per molecule")`
`=(152)/(2)=76`
