A metallic chloride contains 20.2% by mass of metal (M). I the atomic mass of the metal be 27. what is the molecular formula of the metallic chloride?

Metal content in metallic chloride=20.2%
`therefore`Amount off chlorine in the metallic chloride=(100-20.2)=79.8%
So. 79.8 parts by mass of chlorine combine with 20.2 parts by mass of the metal (M)
`therefore` 35.5 parts by mass of chlorine combine with `(20.2xx35.5)/(79.8)=8.986` parts by mass of the metal.
Hence, equivalent mass of metal (M)=8.986
`therefore V=(A)/(E) =(27)/(8.986)=3` (approx).
So, the valency of the metal in the metalli chloride=3
Therefore, molecular formula of the metallic chloride=`MC l_(3)`
[`because` Valency of chlorine=1]
