Haematite (Fe(2)O(3)) contains some wate...

Haematite `(Fe_(2)O_(3))` contains some water in addition to `Fe_(2)O_(3)`. 4.0 kg of this mineral contains 2.5 kg of iron. Find the purity of `Fe_(2)O_(3)` in the mineral.

Gram-molecular mass of `Fe_(2)O_(3)=2xx55.85+3xx16=159.7g`
now, `(2xx55.85)gFe-=159.7g" "Fe_(2)O_(3)`
`therefore2500g` Fe`-=(159.7xx2500)/(2xx55.85)g" "Fe_(2)O_(3)=3574g" "Fe_(2)O_(3)`
So, 4000g mineral contains 3574g of pure `Fe_(2)O_(3)`.
`therefore` Purity of `Fe_(2)O_(3)` in haematite`=(3574xx100)/(4000)=89.35%`.
