1L of a (N/2) HCl solution was heated in a beaker and it was observed that when the volume of solution got reduced to 600 mL, 3.25 g of HCl was lost. Calculate the normally of the resulting solution.

Normality=`("Mass of HCl")/("Equivalent mass "xx"Volume of solution (L)")`
or, 0.5 eqv`*L^(-1)=("Mass of HCl")/(36.5eqv^(-1)xx1L)`
or, Mass of HCl=0.5 eqv`*L^(-1)xx36.5g*eqv^(-1)xx1L=18.25g`
Mass of HCl left after heating`=18.25-3.25=15.0g`
Volume of the resulting solution`=600mL=(600)/(1000)=0.6L`
`therefore` Normality(N)`=(15.0g)/(36.5g*eqv^(-1)xx0.6L)=0.685`
