The vapour density of a gas at `25^(@)C` is 25. what will be its vapour density at `50^(@)C` ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Vapour density of gas `=("mass of certain volume of gas")/("mass of equal volume of "H_(2)" gas")`
[under similar conditions of temperature and pressure]
Now, increase in temperature will result in a proportionate increase in volume of both hydrogen and the given gas as all gases expand equally due to equal rise in temperature irrespective of their chemical nature. so, vapour density of the gas does change with any change in temperature. Thus, the vapour density of the gas at `50^(@)C` will be equal to the vapour density measured at `25^(@)C`. so, the vapour density of the gast at `50^(@)C` will also be 25.
