What is the equivalent mass of KH(IO(3))...

What is the equivalent mass of `KH(IO_(3))_(2)` as an oxidant in presence of 4.0 (N) HCl when `IC l` becomes the reduced form ? [where K=39.0 and I=127.0]

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`IO_(3)` is present in `KH(IO_(3))_(2)` as `IO_(3)^(-)`
Let, the oxidation state of 1 be x.
`therefore x-6=-1 or, x=+5. overset(+5)(KH(IO_(3))_(2)) to overset(+1)(2IC l)`
`therefore` Decrease in oxidation state`=(10-2)=8`
`therefore` Equivalent mass of `KH(IO_(3))_(2)=("molecular mass")/(8)`
`=390//8=48.75`
