Which is the limiting reagent in the combustion of methane and why it is called so?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Methane is the limiting reagent in this case because the other reagent is atmospheric `O_(2)` which is always present in excess amount. Thus, the amount of `CO_(2) and H_(2)O` formed will depend upon the amount of `CH_(4)` undergoing combustion.
