Calculate : (i) mass, (ii) volume at STP, (iii) number of molecules present in 0.5 mol of `CO_(2)`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) 1 mol `CO_(2)=44g` of `CO_(2)`
`therefore`0.5 mol `CO_(2)=44xx0.5=22g` of `CO_(2)`
(ii) At STP, volume of 1 mol `CO_(2)` gas =22.4L
`therefore` At STP, volume off 0.5 mol `CO_(2)` gas`=22.4xx0.5=11.2L`
(iii) Numbe of molecules in 1 mol `CO_(2)=6.022xx10^(23)`
`therefore` Number of a molecules in 0.5 mol `CO_(2)=3.011xx10^(23)`.
