What amount of magnesium sulphide (MgS) ...

What amount of magnesium sulphide (MgS) will be produced from 1 g o Mg and 1g of S?

Text Solution

`{:(Mg,+,S,to,MgS),(24g,,32g,,56g),(0.75g,,1g,,1.75g):}`
As given in the question, mass of both Mg and S take part in the reaction in 1g. So, in this case limiting reagent is S, because 1g of S reacts completely with 0.75g of Mg. So according to the above equation 1g of S and 0.75g of Mg react to produce 1.75g of MgS.
