Find the number of protons required to fill a sphere of `10cm^(3)` volume. What is the mass of those number of protons?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The radius of a proton`=1.2xx10^(-13)`cm (approx.)
`therefore`The approximate volume of a proton`=(4)/(3)pir^(3)`
`=(4)/(3)xx3.14xx(1.2xx10^(-13))^(3)cm^(3)=6.235xx10^(-39)cm^(3)`
`therefore`The number of protons which can be accomodated in the sphere of capacity `10cm^(3)=(10)/(7.235xx10^(-39))=1.382xx10^(39)`
`therefore`Mass of that number of protons
`=1.382xx10^(39)xx1.672xx10^(-24)`
`=2.311xx10^(15)g=2.311xx10^(12)kg`
