How is the radius of an electronic orbit...

How is the radius of an electronic orbit related to principle quantum number?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The relation between the radius (r) of the electronic orbit and the principal quantum number (n) is given by,
`r=(n^(2)h^(2))/(4pi^(2)mZe^(2))" "therefore rprop n^(2)`.
Therefore, the radius of the orbiit is directly proportional to the square of the principal quantum number.
