Compare the wavelengths of a molecule of each `O_(2) and CO_(2)`, travelling with the same velocity.

Text Solution

Since `lamdaprop(1)/(m), " "therefore lamda_(Q_(2)) prop(1)/(32u) and lamda_(CO_(2)) prop(1)/(44u)`
[`because` Molar mass of `O_(2) & CO_(2)` are 32u & 44u respectively]
`therefore (lamda_(O_(2)))/(lamda_(CO_(2)))=(44u)/(32u)=(11)/(8)`
thus, the wavelengths of a molecule of each `O_(2) and CO_(2)` travelling with the same velocity are in the ratio 11:8.
