(1) Write three differences between electromagnetic wave and matter wave.
(2) Show that the circumference of the 'n' th electronic orbit is 'n' times the de Broglie wavelength of the wave associated with the mostion of electron i.e., `2pir_(n)=nlamda`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(1) N/A
(2) According to Bohr's theory, the angular momentum of a revolving electron in the nth orbit is given by,
`mvr_(n)=(nh)/(2pi) or, mv=(nh)/(2pir_(n))` . . . [1]
Again according to de-Broglie equation,
`lamda=(h)/(mv) or, mv=(h)/(lamda)` . . . [2]
From equation [1] and [2] we have,
`(nh)/(2pir_(n))=(h)/(lamda) or, 2pir_(n)=nlamda` (proved)
