When an electron jumps down from 5th Boh...

When an electron jumps down from 5th Bohr orbit to 3rd Bohr orbit in H-atom, then how many numbers of spectral lines will be formed?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When an electron jumps down from 5th Bohr orbit to 3rd Bohr orbiit in H atom it can jump directly or it can jump to 4th Bohr orbit first and from it, jump to the 3rd Bohr orbit. Thus, we get 3 spectral lines for these 3 transitions.
