A sub-atomic particle has a kinetic energy of `3.6xx10^(-24)J`. Calculate the frequency of the wave associated with the motion of this particle.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Kinetic energy`=(1)/(2)mv^(2)=3.6xx10^(-24)`
`therefore mv^(2)=2xx3.6xx10^(-24)=7.2xx10^(-24)`
Now, from de Broglie equation,, `lamda=(h)/(mv)`
Again for any wave, `lamda=(v)/(v)`
`v=(v)/(h)=(v)/(h//mv)=(mv^(2))/(h)=(7.2xx10^(-24))/(6.626xx10^(-24))`
`=1.086xx10^(10)s^(-1)`.
