The dipole moment of a molecule, mu=exxd...

The dipole moment of a molecule, `mu=exxd`. What is the value of d in case of `C Cl_(4)`?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The resultant bond moment of 2C-Cl bond is equal and opposite to that of the remaining 2C-Cl bonds. Hence there is not net dipole moment and so the value of `mu` is zero.
