What type of bond is formed between two ...

What type of bond is formed between two elements, A and B if both of them are highly electronegative or they have huge difference in their electronegativities. Give examples.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

If both the elements A and B are highly electronegative, the bond formed betweenthem would be covalent. For example, the bond between N and Cl in `NCl_(3)` molecule is covalent. However, if the elements differ widely in their electronegativities, the bond formed between them would be ionic. for example, in NaCl, the bond between Na and Cl is ionic.
