Which has the least dipole moment-1 -but...

Which has the least dipole moment-1 -butene, cis-2-butene, trans-2-butene and 2-methylpropene?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The structure of the given compounds are as follows:

Among these compounds, only trans-2-butene has no net dipole moment. Because two `-CH_(3)` group moment and two C-H bond moments cancel out each other respectively. hence, trans-2-butene has the least dipole moment.
