Under which of the following conditions ...

Under which of the following conditions will the density of a fixed mass of `SO_(2)` gas be higher? (i) STP
(ii) `27^(@)C` and 3 atm pressure.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`d=(PM)/(RT)` and M is constant for a particular gas. Hence, `d prop P//T`. The value of P/T at 3 atm and `27^(@)C` is greater than that at STP. Therefore, density of `SO_(2)` at 3 atm and `27^(@)C` will be greater than that at STP.
