The metal which can be used to obtain metalllic Cu from aqueous `CuSO_(4)` solution is -

A

`Na`

B

`Ag`

C

`Hg`

D

`Fe`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

In electrochemical series, Ag and Hg are in below of Cu whereas Na and Fe can reduce `Cu^(2+)` from `CuSO_(4)` to metallic Cu. But in aqueous solution Na reacts with water vigorously to catch fire by producing high amount of heat. Thus, using of Fe is favourable in this purpose.
