Arteries carry oxygenated blood to the tissues. The largest aorta after comes ourside of the heart, it divides into small branches called arteries and these still divide into small arterioles and supply oxygenated blood to the tissues which are present throughout the body. It looks like a tree with smaller and smaller branches and is compared to a tree.
