In terms of Charles' law explain why `-273^@C` is the lowest possible temperature.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Charles found that for all gases at any given pressure, graph of volume Vs temperature (in celcius , is a straight line intercepts the temperature axis at `273.15^@`. At this temperature no gas exist. This is the hypothetical or imaginary temperature at which gases are supposed to occupy zero volume. SO it is considered the lowest possible temperature.
