A ball of mass 'm' is thrown vertically ...

A ball of mass 'm' is thrown vertically up-ward from the ground and reached a height 'h' before momentarily coming to rest , If 'g' is acceleration due to gravity . What is the impulse received by the ball due to gravity force during its flight ? (neglect air resistance )

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Impulse , J = force x time
`rArrJ="ma"xx(2u)/(g),"Here", a = g and u = sqrt(2gh)`
Now , `J=mgxx(2xxsqrt(2gh))/(g)rArrJ=2msqrt(2gh)`
or `therefore " Impulse " J = sqrt(8m^(2)gh)`
